The March to the Quarry

The Turgraad Quarry is home to hundreds of slaves who toil away, moving rocks and mining precious stones for their masters. However, days prior, a gaping hole was created in the mountain that opened up a gateway into Dun-I from Loccaris. You’ve been charged by the soldiers from Fierrak to close the gate, giving the soldiers at the front a reprieve from their reinforcements.

 

The Turgraad Quarry

You’ve left the small outpost and are taking the carriage toward the quarry to the northwest of Sunshire, the one where the forces of Loccaris have escaped from. The sun is setting in the distance as a purple haze comes over the sky.

 

As you’re riding hard toward the quarry, the carriage is cast high into the air after hitting some debris in the field that you cannot see. You are cast from the carriage and the horse runs off into the distance after being feed from its reins. The impact from slamming into the ground makes you dizzy and somewhat discombobulated. You place your knees up underneath you and rise up slowly, looking back to see a three demons standing there with their weapons drawn.

 

You rode into their trap.

 

Commence Battle with Lesser Demon x 3

 

The three demons stumble backwards before fading away into the night air. You look out in the distance, seeing a purple and orange glow in the distance. You walk through tall grass as you move toward the light, looking ahead to find more demons standing by, what you perceive to be the entrance to the quarry.

 

You approach seven demons with their backs turned to you, opting to ambush them before they can turn to face you.

 

Play up to three cards in your field for no effect.

 

Commence Battle with Lesser Demon x 7

 

The demons vanish and you are left to look down into the quarry. You see several demons emerging from a single hole at the far end of the quarry. You walk over to a small ramp and begin your descent. The ground is loose and loud, giving you trouble as you move slowly down into the quarry. You slip a bit while you head down to the bottom, eventually finding yourself in a large, open area surrounded by large, stone walls.

 

In front of you, you notice several rudimentary machines and siege weapons that have been brought from the hole in the ground and lead to your destination. They are old, and constructed of metal, wood, and stone and you perceive they are capable of projecting a large item toward a wall of a city.

 

To the right of these weapons, you notice a different looking demon stumbling about, carrying large, round objects in his hands. You turn and look at him before he turns to you and lets out a loud screech, tossing one of the objects at you. You dive out of the way before it detonates and loosens the ground around your feet. He holds the other object tightly in his hand before tossing it toward you, prompting you to dive toward him and attack.

The demon fades away into the air, leaving you with a small amount of round explosives at your disposal. You look at the small devices before gazing over at the hole where the gateway is. You place a few of the explosives in your satchel before stepping away from them. On the other side of the siege weapons, you notice several smaller demons walking out of the hole carrying large crates of equipment, what you perceive to be weapons and armor.

 

You reach into your satchel and pull out one of the explosives, thinking to yourself that you can topple the gateway on top of it. It won’t close the gateway permanently, but it will at least slow down the reinforcements. You push a button on the side of the explosive before tossing it at the hole. Demons around it notice the small orb rush toward them and within seconds, the large blast detonates and rock from the side of the cavern comes in on the hole. There is still an opening, but you have done some damage.

 

You reach back into the satchel to grab another explosive as a few of the demons take note of you. You’re tucked behind one of the siege weapons, giving you some cover as you heave another explosive. This one hits directly at the top of the cave, crumbling the rocks at the top and raining debris onto several of the demons.

 

Three demons charge toward you with one very large demon waiting and watching.

 

Commence Battle with Lesser Demon x 3

 

The three demons disappear into the air as the final demon, clearly the boss, looks at you with an awkward grin. He moves toward you, waving a large axe in his hands before raising it high into the air and charging toward you with four other demons in tow.

The demons are stunned as they slowly vanish into the air. You turn and look at the hole, which is now covered by incredibly large and heavy boulders. The demons in the quarry have vanished, but you can see that the carnage that they have created was far greater than first imagined. Bodies of the slaves and foremen are scattered about the area, with their corpses ravaged and pillaged for anything valuable.

 

You look over at one of the men, a very portly but well dressed man. You can see a bulge in his pocket with a golden chain barely protruding from it. You walk over and pull it out of his pocket, noticing a very brightly shining, pink shard hanging from the golden chain.

 

Acquire One of the Following: Shard of Iron Resolve, Shard of the Bulwark, Shard of Intellect, Shard of Anger, Shard of the Crusader, Shard of the Jester.

 

As you’re stepping away from the well-dressed man, you see a crate at the end of the room carrying a great deal of armor, potentially from some of the slaves as he acquired them.

 

Acquire One of the Following: Copper Circlet, Leather Hat, Copper Helm

 

Acquire One of the Following: Copper Armor, Leather Getup, Cotton Robe

 

All players earn 200 Shard Experience.
