The Desecrated Village of Morlnik

While in Sunshire, you’re sifting through the goods at one of the various shops on the banks of the river. You’re looking at weapons, armor, all of which are quite expensive and you wonder if it can be acquired through other means. As you’re about to talk to the shopkeep, a man wearing the crest of the city-state of Fierrak runs into the shop with blood dripping down his tabard. You look at him, as it appears as if he has lost a great deal of blood and will soon perish. “You must get to Morlnik,” he says slowly while looking into your eyes. “The armies of Loccaris are marching and pillaging the plains north of here. You must help them.”

He pauses for a moment, trying to gather the strength to mutter his final words. “The carriage on the outside of town will take you there.” He breathes slowly before collapsing to the ground. The shopkeep looks at you and shakes his head, knowing that he’s going to be left to clean up the mess of another fallen soldier.

You walk out of the shop, not purchasing anything and heading for the carriage.

The Village in Ruins

You walk into the village of Morlnik, fresh from traveling by horse drawn carriage and arrive in the smoldering remains of a village. Only consisting of a few buildings, mostly small huts and dwellings surrounding a well, this village is desecrated. Bodies of the villagers, though few, are strewn about the ground with puncture wounds all over their corpses. Blood has stained the ground throughout the village as you walk in to find a single soldier standing in the center of the wreckage.

The soldier, carrying the crest of Fierrak, a large city to the west of here in the toward the center of the continent, turns to face you. He stretches his hand out and welcomes you. “Adventurers, thank you for heeding the call of aid,” he says in a somber, reserved tone. “These men and women did nothing wrong and yet, the forces of Loccaris have driven through and skewered them for simply residing on Dun-I. They have started a war that we must be prepared to fight to the death over.”

You examine the structures around, noticing several pieces of debris moving inside one of the huts. You move forward, finding three small creatures stirring in there. “They’ve left some of their soldiers behind!” screams the soldier from Fierrak as he pulls his sword from the sheath, only to find more creatures stirring in the other huts. “It’s an ambush!” he shouts as the small creatures, demons with scales all over their bodies and small, well-pronounced horns, protruding from their head. These demons carry scythes, great axes, greatswords, or other large weapons but carry no armor across their body.

Two of the small demons run toward you, swinging their weapons wildly as you brace yourself, waiting for their attack.

Commence Battle with Lesser Demon x 2

The demons all fall to the ground and dissipate into the air. You turn from the hut to see three more charging toward you from one of the other buildings.

Commence Battle with Lesser Demon x 3

The second set of demons collapse to the ground and vanish, leaving you looking around for any more to come from the rubble. You turn to see the knight from Fierrak clutching his chest. The scythe of one of the demons has made it through his armor and pierced his heart. Beside the demon, two women with wings sprouting from their back and a whip on their side stand tall, preparing to suck the soul from the soldier.  You sprint toward him with your weapons drawn to fight back the creatures of Loccaris.

Commence Battle with Lesser Demon and Lesser Succubus x 2.

The demonic creatures have all been vanquished and the soldier falls to the ground, clutching his chest as the light in his eyes slowly starts to fade away. “You must chase after these foul knaves. You must fight these creatures back. They’re ransacking the small villages along the way on their march to Werz. You must fight to save the people of Dun-I.” He pauses as he struggles for air. “Here, take my shield. May it serve you better than it served me.”

Acquire One of the Following: Cracked Wooden Shield, Rusty Shield

You take a step back as the soldier’s body goes limp. You grab his shield while looking around the area in an attempt to find something of use. You walk over to all of the huts, but everything has been taken.

In the distance, you can see more carnage and chaos coming from down the plains. You can see where the armies of Loccaris are marching.

All players gain 100 shard experience.
