The Peroney Ice Temple

Advertisements

While in Sunshire, you’re approached by the same Werz soldier from before, alerting you that his companions have ventured back into the cavern and up to the summit of the mountain. One of them returned, alerting him that they have found the home of the Yetis and vicious Ice Trolls. Deep within the snowy summit, an Ice Temple resides and the Werz soldier has lost his companions in it. He’s asked you to go and find them again, something of which you’ve already proven yourself adept to once.

Return to the Cavern

You walk through the cavern, noticing the destruction from before. You see the bodies still lying on the ground, though somewhat frozen over now. You make your way past them before reaching the room where you freed the Werz soldiers and fought the Ice Dragon. As you walk in, you look around slowly to see if you can find the Ice Dragon, but alas, he is still missing, though in the back of the room, you notice a large opening in the wall.

You walk toward and through it, finding yourself in a large chasm that possessed a slightly upward incline. You make your way up, seeing a light at the top of a large ramp. You make your way to the top, finding six Ice Trolls guarding the exit. Surprised to see you, they immediately attack.

Commence Battle with Ice Troll x 3

The corpses of the Ice Trolls fall to the ground and walk past them, looking around as you see what’s ahead of you. A large, white temple is sitting in the distance, nestled in between large pieces of the mountain. Snow covers the temple as you look around the area. You see several trolls in the distance, all guarding the area at the entrance, but a path to the right shows a different way into the temple, through the bottom of it. Which direction will you travel?

Through the front door

Take the trail underneath the Temple.

Through the Front Door

You walk forward, ignoring the path to the side and opting to go through the front door instead. You’ve dispatched plenty of these trolls before, what’s a few hundred more.

As you make your way to the front of the temple, you come up to a large, stone bridge that goes over a chasm. You look ahead to see that the trolls are staring at you, almost inviting you forward.

Though uneasy, you start your approach across the bridge. Halfway across, four large Yeti run out of the front gate and charge toward you.

Commence Battle with Yeti x 4

The yeti all fall off of the bridge and onto the chasm, though the Trolls have seen their opportunity to strike while you are weakened.

Commence Battle with Ice Troll x 4

The trolls are tossed to the side, though as you look up to the front door, you see more ready to attack. You move forward slowly, trying to make pace as six more trolls leap down from the windows in the temple and make their attack.

Commence Battle with Ice Troll x 6

The trolls fall over and off of the bridge. The path to the front door is clear, though as you make your way forward, you hear a very loud thud behind you, followed by a menacing screech. You turn your head to look behind you to find the Ice Dragon standing on the bridge, ready to extract his revenge. The front door opens up and two Yeti appear, ready to charge in as well.

Commence Battle with Ice Dragon and Yeti x 2.

The Dragon’s head droops down and you notice a change in the color of it’s sapphire eyes. It breathes slowly as it starts to shrink. Within seconds, it turns into a humanoid form with blue scales and the same sapphire eyes, but with arms and legs. He breathes slowly as he looks on at you with a sinister grin before leaping high into the air and into the temple.

The door behind you is open, leaving you only one way into the temple. As you walk into the temple, the doors slam behind you, creating a loud echo that fills the room. You look around the room, noticing several intricate statues lining the vibrant red carpet. The statues, all depicting the trolls of old, are old and made of a white stone that must come from the inside of the mountain. You walk past eight statues, four on each side, all while walking along a red carpet.

Once you reach the end of the carpet, you notice a ninth statue at the end. You walk up toward it, noticing how different it is compared to the rest of them. While the eight statues appear to have a bit of age, this one is a completely accurate depiction of the Ice Dragon’s human form you just saw. His eyes are created with sapphires and they stare right at you as you admire the craftsmanship.

You take a step back and try to examine the very large room. You see paintings along the walls, all depicting the trolls of old while trying your best to find a door. As you’re examining the room, a large door at the top of a staircase opens up. A troll shaman, adorned in vibrant blue face paint and light blue robes, appears in front of you. She stands at the top of the staircase and chants down at you while six Ice Trolls leap off of the second story down to the first to attack you.

Commence Battle with Ice Troll x 6

The Troll at the top of the stairs looks down at you after dispatching the Trolls sent to destroy you. “You are not welcome here,” it says confidently before pointing to the ground. Two large, white circles appear in the floor. You stare at them as arms appear from the the depths of them. Two large Yetis appear, while four more trolls leap down from the second floor to try and stop you from making it to him.

Commence Battle with Ice Troll x 4 and Yeti x 2

You sling one of the trolls back into the statue of the humanoid Ice Dragon, shattering it and revealing a large piece of red stone buried beneath. You walk toward it, noticing that it is one of the Uharra Shards.

Acquire One of the Following: Shard of Life, Shard of the Bulwark, Shard of Intellect, Shard of Anger, Shard of the Crusader, Shard of the Jester

You look up the stairs to see that the Ice Troll who summoned the Yetis has fled. However, you look forward to see another door has opened. Which path will you take?

Travel to the second floor to chase down the Ice Troll

Head through the door on the first floor to see what mysteries are behind it

Through the Door Beneath the Stairs

You walk through the door beneath the stairs, hoping to find what mysteries lie within this small temple. You find yourself in a small, dimly lit hallway with torches along both sides of the blue walls. The floor is stone with a hint of blue. You make your way through the hallway, filling a chill take your bones as you make your way to a large, open area down a small flight of stairs.

You walk down the stairs to find four human skeletons sitting around the remains of a fire. You examine the area closely, noticing the smooth walls that surrounded the skeletons. As you look around, a sense of uneasiness fills your bones. You feel as if you weren't supposed to enter this room.

The doors to the room slam shut, echoing through the small area you’ve found yourself in. The pit of fire sparks to life in front of you with the flares reaching high into the air. The four skeletons start to come to life as you stand back and watch. Within seconds, the skeletons have risen to their feet and come after you.

Commence Battle with Skeleton x 4

The skeletons fall to the ground where they lay and the fire goes out. You look around the room, hoping for a sign that things are about to look up. The fire sparks again, this time, a large troll Skeleton appears in front of you and attacks.

Commence Battle with Risen Construct

The construct falls over and the door to the room opens up, giving you an exit. You make a run toward it, knowing that this wasn’t the room for you. As you reach the door, several trolls are waiting on you.

Commence Battle with Ice Troll x 6

The trolls fall to the ground and you make your way out of the room and up toward the stairs, knowing that following the Ice Troll should’ve been your destination to begin with.

Follow the Ice Troll to the Second Floor

The Second Floor

You elect to travel up the stairs to the second floor and walking through the only open door you find. As you walk through the wooden doors, you notice several things that appear to be very different from the room that you came. While the one before was very well kept up and ornate, this one appears to be very left alone. Cobwebs are all over the corners of the room while the pictures are covered in an icy dust.

You walk forward, keeping your eyes clear as you move through the area. The air has become much colder as you move further into the temple and down the hallway. As you walk slowly, keeping your weapon drawn as you move down the narrow hallway, you try to examine all of the portraits. Their depictions of the statues you came across is very striking, though you think that they are just very loyal to their ancestors. You make your way through the hallway and come to a set of very large, double doors. You place your hands on the brass handles and twist them slowly, pulling both doors open simultaneously to reveal a very large, open room.

The room is very similar to the one where you fought the Ice Dragon before. The walls are a light blue and covered with ice while a frozen waterfall is at the far end. In the center of the room, a throne sits where the Ice Dragon sits in his human form. The Ice Troll you found earlier is kneeling before him, begging him for assistance as you come up. Your weapons are already drawn as you approach the Ice Troll. He stands up in, slightly panicked, as he sees you standing before him. He breathes slowly as the Ice Dragon continues to sit on his throne. Five circles appear before you with Yeti crawling out of them, ravaged and ready to fight. The Ice Troll wastes little time and attacks with them.

Commence Battle with Yeti x 5 and Ice Troll Priest

The Priest falls to the ground, bleeding profusely from openings in his chest and head. You look at him as his eyes start to glaze over; his soul starting to fade from his body. The Ice Dragon is sitting behind him, staring at you with a very sinister grin across his face.

The Ice Dragon rises to his feet. His sapphire eyes glow blue as he stares down at you with a sly grin coming from the corners of his lips. “Quite impressive,” he says while standing in front of his throne. “These trolls think of me as their God and I’d hate to let them down. Perhaps I shouldn’t let them down.”

The humanoid Ice Dragon stands before and smirks while holding both of his arms up. He creates two large Ice Dragons, one on each side of you to battle.

Commence Battle with Ice Dragon x 2.

The Humanoid Ice Dragon stares at you after defeating his two summoned creations. Though shocked that his creations were defeated, he claps sarcastically before smiling and leaping into the air. He escapes out of a large hole in the ceiling, leaving you staring up at the sky. Behind the throne, you find three crates with spoils in them, all tribute to his might from the Ice Trolls.

The Hidden Cave

You don’t want to trek toward the front door, and instead, head down that path that you believe leads underneath the temple. You don’t want to disturb the trolls and you want to avoid conflict if at all possible, which is wise. From what you could determine, there were hundreds of trolls waiting to fight at the entrance of the temple. You elect to take the path of least resistance, which could possibly serve you in living to fight another day.

You walk down the path and underneath a stone bridge, looking up to see several trolls scattering about. They don’t notice you, allowing you to walk through unabated toward a large hole in the mountain. As you walk toward it, you notice several large tracks, followed by large gash in the snow. You look down and examine it, not noticing anything off about it.

The path is still covered in snow and you reach the entrance of the cave, as you look in, you hear a very loud bang behind you. You turn to see the Ice Dragon standing behind you, ready to finish what he started.

Commence Battle with Ice Dragon

The dragon takes a step back and stares at you, morphing into a much smaller form. His scales are still rigid and blue while his eyes are still glowing a very light blue, but he’s taken a humanoid appearance. He has arms and legs like a humanoid with a head similar to a human, save two large horns sticking out of the top.

He stares at you with a sly grin coming from his mouth. He leaps into the air and flips, looking down at you as he jumps over you and into the cave. He runs ahead, signalling for two Yeti who are on the inside of the cave to be released to slow you down. You stare into the shadows as the Ice Dragon disappears, waiting on the two Yetis to come charging toward you.

Commence Battle with Yeti x 2

The two yetis fall to the snow, leaving your path clear so you can enter the cave and follow the Ice Dragon.

Inside the cave, you find several torches lighting the path for you. The ground is rocky and cold, but easily traversable as it has been recently. You walk along the path slowly, keeping your eyes out for anything that could potentially be a trap. You saw hundreds of Ice Trolls on the surface, so many more could be down here, as well as the Yetis.

You continue your walk down the cave, looking about to see several drawings along the walls. The Ice Trolls have taken the time to draw several depictions of their old world on them and their devotion to, what you believe to be, their ancestors and deities. As you walk along the wall, you see a recent image of the Ice Dragon in his humanoid form, sitting on a large throne. You look past it, continuing down the wall, to see a similar image, this time with six more humanoid dragons standing in a circle.

A loud rumble echoes behind you, forcing you to turn around. You look behind you to see a different looking troll standing pat, watching your every move. He’s standing still, looking on at you while you examine the walls. After a few awkward seconds, he holds his hands out and creates three small circles on the ground. You look at the circles closely, watching them intently as three yeti emerge from them. The yeti are snarling and charge toward you.

Commence Battle with Yeti x 3

The yetis fall to the ground and the Ice Troll stands firm, staring at you. He turns around slowly and runs toward a large staircase, charging up it quickly and prompting you to give chase. You run toward the staircase and start climbing the stairs, eventually reaching the top to find three more Yeti waiting on you.

Commence Battle with Yeti x 3

The yeti all fall to the ground, one of them falling down the stairs. The door in front of you is open and leads to a large throne room. You peer in, seeing the humanoid Ice Dragon sitting on his throne with the Ice Troll in front of it.
