Utilizing Sacrifice Abilities

As you play By Gods and Kings, you will notice that your field is VERY important. It is how you deploy the very large abilities that deal the most damage. Some of these abilities do more than though. Some of these abilities have the potential to end encounters…

With that being said, sometimes it really sucks to have a card in your field you don’t need. Also, it’s unfortunate when you have a full field and have to discard a card out of it to play an ability. This is where sacrifice abilities come into play.

The intention of sacrifice abilities is to allow a player to rid their field of unwanted cards while still be able to generate something positive for it. Depending on the Shard equipped, Sacrifice abilities can range from anything to placing a damage over time ability on an enemy to increasing your overall damage on your next basic attack or ability. Ultimately, the goal of sacrifice is to allow you to clear the field so you can play cards into it that will assist you in reaching the hand you’re trying to make.

While it will seem prudent to simply sacrifice cards constantly to strengthen yourself on the short term, that strategy is one that doesn’t pan out as you progress. Early in the game, this strategy will seem incredible, especially if you’re using the Shard of Blunt Fists and putting out over 30 damage a swing, but, as the game progresses and enemies becomes stronger, this strategy won’t work. Other Shards have much stronger abilities that will allow you to do more damage than simply “sac’ and smack’ing the enemies.
